Here is how I’m related to the Heisig family.
Reverend Ferdinand Heisig was my great-great grandfather. He immigrated with 8 children to the United States in 1870 from Leobshutz (Silesia), Germany. The ship arrived in New York, they went through immigration, then they took another to Galveston and settled in the Houston and Beaumont area. I’m one of his descendants who is still in Texas.
Rev. Ferdinand’s son Charles (“C.T.”) Heisig was my great-grandfather. He was 7 when the family came to the United States. He ended up being a successful businessman in Beaumont.
C.T.’s daughter Helen Ruth Heisig was my grandmother. She was raised in Beaumont and then lived the rest of her life in Houston.
